Nature Diary...Early this morning

    It was a bitterly cold day with intermittent brief showers of icy cold rain. 
   All day the sky was a gloomy shade of grey and there was not the slightest hint of a breath of wind.
   It was good to see a coastal patrol boat carefully monitoring the shoreline early this morning.
