Cape Gooseberries

...otherwise known as Physalis peruviana I understand.  Strange little things and quite tasty, though why anyone would want to eat fruits from the Deadly Nightshade family I can't imagine!

So yes, I went into town around lunchtime to get one or two bits of food we were out of and somehow picked up these.  I've obviously seen them around but never eaten them before and at least, I thought,  they'd make a slightly more cheerful blip that anything taken outside on this horribly cold, dark, damp day! 

And this really was the height of excitement I reached today, which is not saying much, is it?  Never mind, perhaps - and hopefully - your day has been rather better.  Take care  xx
