Ice Crystal Pattern…

…on a log. I’d never seen this kind of hoarfrost effect before, so I had to make it my main blip. The extras show the frosted landscape and the size of the ice needles - about four centimetres in length, which is only possible when you get several days of freezing and foggy conditions without any wind.

I took these photos near my mother’s house, after the weekly shopping delivery / lunch / coffee visit. Down here in the valley, it was just another grey and foggy day, but with temperatures of slightly above zero degrees, we didn’t get any hoarfrost.
