No magpies - a kind of magic

Another view of the conker tree in winter. The morning light was glorious and the tree was looking magnificent. There is a bird visible and it may may be a magpie but I can't see several. After walking the dog it was an odd kind of day at work, there is stuff to do, but it's all a bit piecemeal and doesn't feel very productive.

Been listening to Queen all week while working. It's music I've heard all before when I was in school but I didn't have all the albums just the Greatest Hits I+II. Last weekend I borrowed a load of CDs from the local library and not with standing the terrible condition of the discs it was still useful to get these albums again, plus the 2011 extras I've not heard before.

One of the nice things about working from home, and living in a detached house, is that I can listen to whatever I want while I'm working and it doesn't bother or annoy anyone. It's easy to mute things when talking to colleagues, but otherwise I let my 30 year old amp and speakers do their thing.

While I have a nice Rotel CD player, I mostly play my music from the computer, I've ripped all my CDs to FLAC format, which is a perfect copy of the original CD, and then play that out from the computer. The digital to analogue stage in the computer is okay, but no way as good as the one in the CD player, but it's much easier to be able to cue up a whole bunch of music on the computer and let it play all day than it is to keep changing the CD...! My Pioneer amp and Mission speakers are still getting used and doing their thing - decades after I bough them.

Gimmie, gimmie, fried chicken...
