A flower on Friday
I read recently that research has revealed there is a whole generation of young people growing up who cannot tell the time when faced with a traditional analogue clock face. They have been so used to seeing only digital clocks, be it on their phones, computers, tablets or out and about in public places, they can't tell what the hands on a clock mean. Shocking as that may seem, in some ways I wish I'd been one of them this morning.
I have a bedside clock which has a dim backlight which comes on when you press the button on the top. I woke this morning and looked at it and saw the time was a quarter past six. I'm an early riser so always get up between six and seven, so I got up and went downstairs to make my coffee. It was only when I got down that I looked at the kitchen clock and saw the time was actually just after half past three. Of course by that time, I had woken myself up so couldn't go straight back to bed, so I had a look at a few blips and added some stars and comments (so apologies if your phone bleeped at about 3.45am but if you will take your phone to bed...). I got back at about 4.15am but didn't really sleep well, so I rather suspect it will be an early night tonight.
I haven't been far today but as it's Friday I thought a flower would do. This little flower is the only one in bloom in a trough of Alpines outside the back door. I think it's probably enjoying the weather we're having at the moment.
