Pea souper

Went off to Lidl this morning to do the weekly shop. Left at just after 8.30am after de-icing Mega Breadvan. Visibility was poor on my short jaunt. With the windows freezing slightly on the inside and steaming up.
The car park looks empty, but in fact the bulk of the cars were parked behind me, right near the entrance into the store.
Personally I don't really understand why people have to be right next to the entrance, not like it is a long walk from where I usually park.

Yesterday was a bit of a naff day, in fact it has been a bit rubbish since my birthday on Tuesday. After walking out on Christmas Day, my SIL sent me birthday wishes via Whatsapp. Which I ignored. Then she sent me a message yesterday sounding a bit hurt because I hadn't replied. I told her the truth, I was a bit depressed so didn't reply.
Then she started telling me that my BIL's (SIL is married to my wife's elder brother, who I don't really get on with), that they always think they are right about everything. Now BIL has retired he is very difficult to live with. Also apparently both BIL's aren't keen on "weak" people (I suppose they must think I'm a weak person). In short we aren't bosum buddies and never have been over the last 27 years I've been here.

I think she is trying to tell me that she is on my side. Somehow I think she is probably being a puppet for BIL - who seems to think that the "family" should be together. But as they don't actually care about me, I don't see the point. It is more a case of not losing face and because in recent years I've not wanted to know and steer clear of get togethers, then in their eyes they're losing face.

How can you be united in a family that doesn't actually want you?

Mme MB is understandably upset. She is just keen for us to get on with our lives and to just ignore them. Although she has to occasionally communicate with her brothers as they all own my late FIL's house down in the Dordogne. Otherwise, there is little in the way of communication.

Ho hum...
