Catching up…

…after almost 30 years.

As you know my blips are very infrequent these days but today after my usual shopping then singing morning, I met an old friend from Cambridge. Good old social media had kept us in contact, but we actually worked sort of together at Cambs CC in the 1990s. Helen worked in payroll and I was in pensions. We had quite small teams back then, and the two departments worked closely together, based in the octagon at Shire Hall in Cambridge.

A lot has happened in 30 years and we met at 12.30 for lunch at Alby Crafts, and didn’t leave until 4.30 - a little awkward as they close at 4! But the lovely young girl on duty cleaned around us.

We chatted non stop. Helen and her husband spent 12 years in New Zealand but recently returned and chose Norfolk to settle. Coincidentally just 15 minutes from me. It’s lovely for me to have at last made a friend in Norfolk- little did I expect it to be someone I knew all those years ago.

We are looking forward to meeting up again when the weather is a bit nicer, to enjoy a walk in the lovely Norfolk countryside.

Tomorrow I have the day off. Feeling pretty shattered, and I plan to sleep!
