A Way Of Seeing
Royalty,
leaning ever
oh so slightly over,
hands clasped behind its back.
Showing concern for the imploring children?
Are the children adoring the monarch?
If he's content to leave them in that hellhole
they should rise against him.
Is that his consort behind him?
Blue blood is burning.
The artist tells me
she sees a person, stooping,
and a rabbit.
And that there's a bird overhead.
I see the rabbit.
There could be two. One of them,
intent on survival,
is exiting the picture pretty sharpish.
That bird must surely be
a bird of prey.
On another day
I might see things differently.
