A day in the life

Pier

I woke up to a wonderful morning. No wind, blazing sunshine and about 2 degrees warm(?) Two of my friends and me had decided to go to "Beijershamn", originally a pier from the 1850s that unfortunately couldn't handle the sea and had to be closed fifty years later.

The area is a protected area, part of a world heritage, and is one of the best locations for birdwatchers on the island. My two friends are both capturing swans with their cameras there were a couple of large flocks with about thirty swans but they were too far away for my camera, I had to make do with this small flock of five who was feeding in the shallow waters.

The pier stretches about two km out into Kalmar-sound and is still in one piece, apart from two places where the water had broken through. The water is shallow so we could make our way to the end of the  pier where we of course had a fika.
In the shallow waters near the beach there is still ice but it won't last long during the mild weather we expect for the next seven days.
