Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

What a day!!

Israel and Hamas have agreed a ceasefire. What fantastic news!

But more mundane things here: My kind neighbour (with the impressive toolbag) popped over this morning to examine the collapsed gate. He agreed it was easily fixable. I told him no rush - we’re not exactly sitting out in the front garden with Archie these days…

Archie went out with Elizabeth, and we went into town for an appointment at the bank. JR had to push for it and insist on seeing an actual person! So glad we did, as she was marvellous. After every seemingly complicated task, she’d say, ‘You can do this on the app…’

On the way home, I was just in time for E &A to arrive, but no, it was not to be. For the first time ever, after decades on the city buses (admittedly not at night) there was a kerfuffle. The driver stopped and went stomping up the stairs, and ejected one hooligan. But he didn’t drive off, we sat there for ages, I thought maybe help would arrive. He had to go up again, then more hooligans rampaged down and out, shouting. But while we sat there, they were banging on the windows, mainly at a very young lad with a rather expensive looking e-scooter. He was very very nervous. The hooligans kept opening the emergency exit and shouting in at him. I asked the young lad if he knew them, but he said no. I do hope he got home all right when he got off a few stops further on, having first phoned someone in a panic.

JR took the bus to Morningside to visit her podiatrist. Her foot/toe has been giving her problems for a while, so hopefully he can sort her out.

The photo: this is the new(ish) charity shop near our bus stop. They do really good window displays! All things to do with the 80s/90s this time, with the tenements reflected. I went in to tell them how fabulous it is. If you zoom in, you can check all the items.

I think this would make a good 1,000 piece jigsaw!
