When You Were Young
This horrendous photo of me from nearly thirty years ago landed in a WhatsApp chat group yesterday. Looking back through old programmes, I’m fairly certain this was a Burneside Village Players production from May 1996 - Murder For The Asking - and I played Detective Sergeant Thatcher. Can’t remember anything else about it though.
What is most shocking is how I looked back then. I knew I was unfit and had an unhealthy lifestyle, but I’d forgotten just how bad it obviously was! In fact, I showed this picture to a colleague at last night’s read through, and she reckoned I looked younger now. I’ll take that.
BVP was a much older society than BATS but most of us were members of both societies back in the day. In view of that commonality, it was decided to merge into one society at the turn of the century. There is still a reference to BVP in the mural of village activities that is on the wall of the Bryce Institute.
And it’s a good job I’m leaner and fitter these days as there are five more Panto performances to get through this week, starting tonight!
