Another Sunday Funday
Hubby got up and left before I rolled over. He offered to take Mike to work again. He was almost there when Mike let him know he had another ride. He’d just gotten the call. Hubby made good use of his time out and purchased windshield fluid. The roads are so full of salt and the spray on the windshield makes it unsafe. He’d emptied the reservoir. We had a nice Sunday breakfast at the hotel and read by the fire in the lobby for a while. Our plan was to meet Bob and Jillian for lunch; Jillian picked Cracker Barrel. They always make great country meals. Jillian paid. She has a part time job while she is in school. She is very appreciative that her grandfather paid for her tuition and related expenses. It made her feel good to give back. She had to work later today so our visit was short. We went back to the hotel and decided, while we waited for Mike, we’d explore roads we’d not been on before. You can see some of what we found. There were a few hilly/windy back roads that haven’t been touched by a plow or salt pellets. We were happy for 4-wheel drive but enjoyed the sights. We came across an absolute mansion being built. It wouldn’t fit in these collage frames. We wonder who would be building a place like that in this small town. Although, Harrison Ford lives here. Maybe the word is out that life is relatively quiet and the rolling hills are beautiful here. We picked up Mike from work, dropped him off and went back to the hotel. We had a few hours before time to meet Bob and Mike for dinner so we took a short nap. We finally got to have Buddy’s wings! We chatted with the boys until the restaurant was ready to close. Since they live in different towns, we seem to spend most of our visit driving from town to town. Our hotel was about half way between the two. My sister was concerned because I hadn’t uploaded my blip by 8:00, my self imposed absolute deadline (really prefer to do it by 5:00). She texted to make sure I was okay - what a kind thing to do. I just decided to spend our few hours together chatting with the kids rather than using the phone. We encountered a terrible accident on the way back to Mike’s. The entire highway was closed. We turned around and found an alternate route. We’ve found that TN has a great road system with loads of options, unlike at home where we have only two main corridors in and out of our county plus the bridge across the Patuxent. We are in for the night and packed for an easy departure tomorrow morning. We probably won’t be back until June and the kids can’t all get vacation time together to visit us in between. It’s a shame we live so far away especially with us getting older. My MD children are all talking about moving from our state. Taxes are outrageous and crime in our county is way too high. I hope if they really leave, they will at least all go to the same state. I’d be lost without them. Not really going to worry until I see a “for sale” sign on their property. We had a pleasant visit this week and for that I am thankful. The Lord will provide and has told us not to be anxious. Wishing you a low stress week ahead. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “Sunday is a time when you sit back and reflect on all the blessings that you have received. Smile at all the good things that you are enjoying..” - SERA TRAIN
