Westminster Bridge And Afternoon Science

Another busy fun packed birthday weekend day.

After breakfast mrsfb and I wandered along to the river. We were close to Westminster Bridge which pleased her unexpectedly as 'Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802' is one of her favourite poems. We'd walked past the London Eye which was closed for annual maintenance, not that we had planned a trip. There was an artist on the bridge though doing a rather nice painting of it. Maybe it's easier to capture when it is not going around. I actually stepped out of my comfort zone and asked if I could take a photo.

We then moved on to The Ampersand Hotel in South Kensington where we met up with daughter#1 and the gang. SIL#1 had booked Science Afternoon Teas for us all. Three of us tried the 'Science Tea-Pot Tails'. I had a Darwins' Draught (Earl Grey tea infused Chase vodka, Cointreau, lemon and apple juice, ginger ale) while mrsfb and daughter#1 had Newton's Prisms (strawberry vodka, red wine syrup, lemon juice and crème de fraise). There were kids science teas too which had hot dogs and spaceman hot chocolates. Lots of dry ice was involved (see extras) with the drinks and the cakes.

At the end of the tea mrsfb was presented with some extra birthday sweets and the waiters (and us, and the rest of the customers!) sang happy birthday.

After the tea we all had a mooch around Harrods. Rory loves it there. I liked the central escalators and the technology sections.

Then we retired to the bar at our hotel for some drinks before we said our goodbyes (last extra).

It was suggested we might think about getting tickets for another evening show, but we were so tired we just retired to the room and watched Pride and Prejudice on the TV. I didn't like that Judi Dench character at all!

Shame that we missed the rerun of this last week :-)
