The Pensioner

The Little Mermaid

Clearly an homage. We’d finished the roof but of course it’s way too cold to attach the felt as it didn’t inch above freezing all day. That allowed me to shoot off to see the daughter. Sadly I hadn’t picked up a message from her on the way round telling me that Oliveheid, an old schoolfriend, had turned up with her nippers including three week old Neve. Not much room for old Gramps to manage a blether or even entertain small boy.
However I wasn’t there long - off to another film. There is always a glut of them at this time of year. A Real Pain with Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin. Absolutely loved it; a real little gem of a film. And all the more interesting to read about afterwards - Eisenberg has actually taken out Polish citizenship. Obviously a real heartfelt film that he’s written, directed and acted in. Terrific.
