Buxton 2 Chester FC 4

For non-football fans go directly to the extra which is a better photo :)

Given the weather over the last few days it was astonishing that Chester's game at Buxton was not called off. The ground is the highest in England but the surface is 4G and Buxton had made every effort to clear the pitch leaving huge mountains of snow along the touchline and against the terrace wall. While they had made a good job in the ground they could do nothing about the surrounding roads and paths which were treacherous

Like everyone else I expected the game to be off but booked on the coach just in case because I didn't fancy the drive. The road up to the ground was impossible for the coach so it parked in the centre and we had to navigate the ice rink car park and walk up the icy roads .

In the end it was well worth the effort as Chester came from 1-0 and 2-1 behind to deservedly win 4-2 in an exciting game given the conditions.

While I was waiting for the result of the pitch inspection before leaving home this morning I had a blip catch up. I commented on Matlock Graham's photo of a fieldfare saying that I hadn't managed one last year as I had hardly seen any. After writing this I looked out of the patio window and there was a wonderful flock of about 100 fieldfares in our tree which is something I had never seen before. I took a few photos and it seems a shame to relegate this photo as an extra because it is much better than my main but I have been doing birds all week and wanted to do something different. Im rather hoping they return tomorrow so I can blip them again.
