A new book.

I received this book in the mail today, all nicely wrapped in Christmas paper inside the mailing envelope.
I got to know Chester about 15 years ago. Him and his wife had a beautiful garden on the shore of the Bay of Fundy in Port George. He grew a lot of daylilies and would often divide them and sell them. When ever I was in the area I would stop in, buy a few plants and chat with him. One time Marilyn and I were going to his place, I let him know we were coming, and he invited us for lunch. About 10 years ago I noticed that Chester commented on another friends post on Facebook. I added him as a friend, and by the end of the day he had started a scrabble game with me. It was challenging to play with him, and at the time he was 88 years old. His family convinced him to join FB as a way to keep in touch on a daily basis.

In 2018, he was down by the shore on his property when he fell. He had no cell phone, he crawled to the house to call for help. After that his health started to deteriorate. He still played scrabble when he felt up to it. One of his daughter's kept people up to date on how he was doing thru his FB page.

In February 2019, he passed away. I wanted to attend the funeral, but due to weather conditions I was unable to. They did stream it online so I was able to watch it. A few weeks later his daughter thanked me for the condolence message I had sent. We chatted and added each other to our friends list. We started playing scrabble together in memory of her father.

During the last months of Chester's life, his daughters and granddaughter started writing down his memories of his life with plans to publish a book. I told Debby that I would love to have a copy of it. They finally had it published and I received my copy in the mail today.

I will always treasure this book, because it is associated with happy memories of spending time with Chester.

A long day today, 8 hours on my feet without a break, other than a couple of trips to the washroom. It should have been a 5 hour day, but when the product is mixed up on the fixtures, you have to check everything to make sure it is in the proper spot. Plus I had to move a lot of shelves and some of them did not want to click down into place. Hopefully tomorrow will go better, my first nail color reline of the season.

I had a call from the manager at MCA this afternoon. The other 2 leads for those relines are not coming back this year. So she wants me to take on more work. I don't have much work with CI after Feb 10, so I should be able to work more jobs, as long as it is during the week..
