Male Blackbird ( Turdus merula )
Today I had shots of three of the five thrushes that are present during winter. They were Fieldfare, Mistle Thrush and Blackbird. The two missing are Song Thrush and Redwing. Ring Ouzels are thrushes but aren't generally present during winter.
Of the shots I took the male "Blackie" appealed most. Despite what it looks like in the blip most of the garden still has 3-4 inches of frozen snow. The area the Blackbird was in was beside/under the one of the Holly trees and so the snow was thinner. I suspect that was why it was hanging about there.
