Grumpy Old Man

A chilly night, down to almost -4 degrees C on the deck and the coldest so far this winter. Although it was cold I needed to get out, so I suggested we went to Poppies for lunch. Mrs M thought we should check first that they were open, so I looked at their website - open 9am to 5pm, even though they close at 4pm during the winter. Just to make sure I Googled 'Is Poppies café open today' and the reply we 'Yes, 9am-4pm. So we drove up there to find the gate shut - they were closed! Naughty.

We went to the Beach Café at the Marine Laboratory instead, which was open (!) and afterwards had a walk along to Dunstaffnage Castle. The mountains were beautiful - my Blip is of the survey ship 'Sir John Murray' with a backdrop of Ben Cruachan.

Had to pop along to the hospital this afternoon for a blood test, and found myself alone in the waiting room. A nurse came in, looked around, gave me a smile and disappeared. Five minutes later she came out again and called my name. She told me that she was looking for an old man and couldn't believe that I was anything like the age on her record. That was nice!
