An Unexpected Detour
WEDNESDAY
Another very cold start to the day with the road outside coated with a layer of frozen sleet and hail. For the third day running, the cars remained in the garage.
Late afternoon, after putting out the bins, I decided to brave the cold and have a walk. Having received hand warmers as a Christmas gift, I slipped them into my gloves before heading out .
I decided to take a route around the outskirts of the village, but I was thwarted as a small footbridge which crossed the stream near Graig Fawr was no longer there and the water too deep to wade across. A fallen tree, likely brought down in the recent storms, was where the bridge used to be.
I had to retrace my footsteps and, as I passed Graig Fawr, just above the snowline, I was greeted by the bleating of these sheep with thick wool coats .
Rather than go straight home, I opted for a diversion to the quarry at Y Graig Nature Reserve.
Just scraped in my 10,000 steps
