Fortress of Louisbourg
Spent the day here - a huge reconstruction of an 18th century settlement and fortress - was apparently very busy with many, many people living here in its heyday. After a period of calm, each time the French and British fell out the fortress changed hands.
It has been very well restored, and to give atmosphere, when eating in the 'restaurant', punters have to eat from a pewter dish - one only, with one spoon, and are encouraged to tie large napkins round their necks! Oh, and the menu was 18th century too - more British than French.
The children and adults were playing historical games when I took the photo.
