Warming up

I was glad of my new hand-warmers after my swim this morning. I find that my fingers often feel the coldest making it tricky to pull up zips etc.  The hand-warmers are great for providing some instant heat and if I put them in my fleece pocket they also warm my core.  Win win.

Back home I had a warm shower and then caught up with housework, did some meal prep and got ready for my Gaelic tutorial which starts back tonight.  We are now studying the perfect tense ( has been/have been) and have been asked to consider (amongst other things) which is more natural - when have you been or when were you  - which I find tricky to do in English let alone Gaelic (and suspect the answer depends on context). However it was useful in prompting me to engage more deeply with the material and thinking about when you would/wouldn't use the perfect tense.  Off now to consult some books - who knew that learning another language would also deepen my understanding of English grammar !
