Under Ice

As the temperature has resolutely remained below zero since yesterday’s snowfall, this was the state of my car this morning. Absolutely no chance of getting into it without some serious defrosting action. And I needed to get into it because it is Panto Dress rehearsal tonight and Mrs C is out elsewhere in her car.
I dug out my heat gun and played it around the door lock and window edges until all the ice had disappeared. That let me into the car and I was able to start the engine and get all the heaters blowing at maximum.
While the car was defrosting/heating up, I took advantage of the Council having refilled the grit/ice bin at the end of the road and applied another liberal coating of said grit/ice to the drive and the road outside our house.
Two hours later and the car, drive and road are all free of ice and snow. I know that the roads in town are all clear as well. Which means there is no reason why I can’t get to Burneside tonight.
But it’s still bloody cold, so getting home at midnight could be a whole new challenge…
