Everyday I Write The Book

Green and gold

A London cafe in the midwinter sun. Classic colours. But I didn’t go in.

I had a good walk from Edgware Road tube down through Marylebone and Soho to Piccadilly this afternoon, but gave up at that point as I had a sore big toe from falling over and banging my foot against the car this morning. It’s actually bloody painful. Hope I haven’t broken it. The NHS is run off its feet at the moment (no pun intended).

London was quite subdued. I had a mission to check out the charity shops around Marylebone village which i did - Oxfam, Cancer Research and Barnardo’s. Any hopes of a bargain were dashed. Seems like the largesse doesn’t get passed on. I saw lot of designer men’s clothes going for up to £250 for a jacket and £90 for shirts. Expensive items were security tagged - never seen that in a charity shop before.

I cannot believe what is coming out of America at the moment. Trump talking of invading Greenland and Panama. Musk interfering in British politics. Zuckerberg giving up fact checking on Facebook and putting Trump allies on his board. It’s insane. Reality is like an episode of Black Mirror at the moment…
