Life is a Challenge!

SHORT BACK AND SIDES!

We had our Tuesday all planned out - haircuts then coffee at Jack’s - yes all is forgiven after the Christmas Eve debacle - but then we had to change those plans.

Mr. HCB has been having a few problems with his skin, so needed to make an appointment with our GP and wonder of wonders, he got an appointment at 10 o’clock this morning.

My hair appointment was at 9.45 so he dropped me there and then went to the surgery.  He was dealt with very quickly and efficiently with the result that photographs will be sent to the Dermatology Department at our local hospital and hopefully, treatment will be started very soon.

After having my “short back and sides” it felt very cold out in the chilly  morning air - fortunately, my lovely hairdresser, Fran, doesn’t mind having her photograph taken, so my collage is about my morning.  I thought the top two photographs on the right were quite funny - “Barbicide” is not something that “Ken” might use if he was fed up with Barbie - but it’s a solution where hairdressers disinfect their brushes, combs etc.

The penguin, obviously left over from their Christmas decorations, was slung in a cupboard along with the toilet rolls - in fact, he looked rather fed up and I wanted to rescue him, but think someone might have noticed if I had stuffed him inside my coat and walked out!

When Fran had finished, I walked round to Jack’s but didn’t hang around waiting outside for Mr. HCB but went inside where it was much warmer.  I ordered my coffee too because I wasn’t sure how long Mr. HCB would be and I did mention to Flo, the Head Waitress, how upset we were to be turned away on Christmas Eve and she did apologise and said they had had a number of complaints.  I said she was lucky we were coming back!!

Anyway, Mr. HCB arrived soon after and we had a good chat about his consultation with the GP - he said he had seen two friends in the surgery we haven’t seen for quite sometime, but they both said we would have to get together for breakfast at Jack’s, so that’s something to look forward to.  The calendar is getting filled up already, but that’s how we like it - I’m so glad that we are still able to go out and enjoy life - and feel for those who are lonely, can’t go out and don’t see anyone for long periods of time.

I had noticed three ladies at the next table, who had had breakfast together, so when we were ready to leave, I just stopped by their table and had a quick chat with them.  I just happened to have three hearts in my pocket, so gave them one each - and they were very pleased to have been blessed.  We had a lovely chat and they were obviously Christians - one from Zambia and two from South Africa - and one in particular, said that she needed some “peace” at the moment, so was happy to have a heart with that written on it.

All in all a good day and the sun even shone for a while - although it was still chilly!  Stay warm and safe.  M xx

P.S.  I have told Mr. HCB we could go back to "lockdown hairdressing" and I could cut his hair after missing his appointment today - he's still thinking about it!
