Ceilidh band

Playing 'Blip catch-up' once again!

The original plan for New Year's Eve (going to the ceilidh in Holmfirth) was somehow modified drastically (a 'musician thing'), and instead MrM played with Phoenix Ceilidh Band near Skipton, and I went along as a dance demonstrator hanger on. Before the ceilidh we all sat down to a four-course meal which was delicious, but I can't imagine who thinks such a large meal is a good idea before dancing!

It was an excellent, but small, ceilidh, and I was indeed called upon to demonstrate most of the dances, and to make up numbers. It finished just before midnight, and we all saw in the New Year with a glass of fizz.

The 'interesting' part came after the band had packed up their gear and MrM was driving home. It was a 2-hour journey each way by the time we'd picked up a couple of band members, and getting there we'd passed through some serious flooding. It had rained heavily all evening, and the flooding was worse by the time we set off from the venue - and a couple of times feared that we wouldn't make it! Somehow we did!
