New year new diary
I have had the Faber Poetry diary on my desk for years but it’s increasingly difficult to know, in the digital age, what to write in it. So i doodle and read the poems. And say things like ‘ rained a lot’. Still it has introduced me to some lovely poems over the years.
It did rain at the beginning of the day but gradually things dried up and some sun appeared. Still very cold however.
Dog and i walked up into where they have been coppicing the chestnut and it is pretty much cleared. It’s a bit forlorn but some good mature trees still break the skyline.
Back into the barn office. Although I am on gardening leave there are quite a few things to keep active so I needed to get going on some calls, and to set some hares running.
Picked up some tester pots for the sitting room - we’re going to paint it gently, I don’t think we need much colour on the walls in this house. It doesn’t go well with beams but I am bored of Clunch.
Went over to Mum’s to meet the new carer to make sure Mum didn’t feel too destabilised.
Back in time for my first US call of the year. The Americans in TV have cottoned on to the holiday break, when I first worked in telly they barely seemed to take two days off
Quite a late dinner, so we didn’t have time for a movie. I am trying to keep ploughing through everything but I think The Brutalist is going to have to wait for the Shortlist stage!
