Bye bye Hula hula girl…
Christmas isn’t over until the hula hula girl has stopped dancing.
The downside of having put a lot of decorations up for the pre Xmas party is that what goes up must come down and it took me best part of three hours to clear the house whilst HB cooked venison stew for dinner. V had various naps and encouraged from the sidelines.
The day started with us, hearts in mouths, going to see if the car, abandoned by the side of the Woolbeding road after Thursday’s flood, would start. It did! Although gallons of water shot out of the exhaust on ignition. Vikram went home in an occasional cloud of steam but he made it. Big relief.
After procuring venison Henry and I went to Lamb & Newt, the new cafe antique shop and I bought a very small Staffordshire Girl on Goat for my miniature collection. I like Staffordshire pieces when they are small. After soupy lunch we went up to the woods for a walk in the low winter sun before I started tackling tree, desiccated greenery and baubles.
After dinner we watched, with some tech glitches, The Holdovers, the new Alexander Payne film. I enjoyed it…but HB got bored and went to bed.
Of course putting out the lights I found one rogue bauble that will sit in a dish until next Xmas.
