Snow day 2
A bit of a stretch for the Mono Monday 'new' theme... I'm going with the idea that all this snow shows the cityscape in a 'new' light :-)
More snow fell overnight, and this morning many schools were closed (including the one Eben and Luca go to). In any case our hilly street was unusable, coated in compacted snow and ice. So it's been a Nana snow day: no school pick-ups, and no drum lesson duties.
It's been peaceful. I spent the morning sorting through some photos in preparation for a couple of Photo Society competition deadlines.
I then made up for the sedentary morning by shovelling all the snow off our driveway, thinking that it might be possible to get the car out tomorrow (when I should normally be looking after Simone). By then there were clear twin tracks along the street, gritted in the steepest places.
However, as I write this in the evening, the few drivers who venture up or down the street are already skidding again - the cleared and gritted sections are freezing over. I've arranged to ring Jack and Marianna later; given the forecast for a sub-zero night, I don't expect to be driving over there in the morning. We'll see.
In other news, I'm both mesmerised and horrified by Elon Musk's offensive and ludicrous pronouncements about UK politics. The final scenes of the film 'Don't Look Up' come to mind... in which the Musk-like character meets a well-deserved fate. I feel for Jess Phillips, an MP who works so hard to stand up for women who've experienced violence and abuse. In targetting her, Musk displays his own ignorance and cowardice.
