Flooding

It rained until the late morning, and luckily for Xena I had to wait in for the alarm engineer to come tweak something on our alarm, so by the time we could go for a walk it had finally stopped raining. This afternoon we had sunshine with the most perfectly formed rainbow, it made a strong arc of colour across the sky.

It was so muddy and wet and grey in the woods, the worst kind of conditions. When we got home I had to wash Xena down as she was covered in mud. I really dislike these muddy winter walks! The woods were still busy as private schools only start tomorrow so there were many children about.

I made a large pot of lentil and vegetable soup for my lunches this week, it definitely is soup kind of weather. After some ironing and other chores I went into the village to return some John Lewis orders to Waitrose and to collect another order. After all the rain over the past couple of days the high street was flooded, as can be seen in the top right image. The bottom left image shows the extent of the river bursting its banks, the river is usually between the two trees in the middle of the picture with a grassy bank to the left of the willow tree where people can relax. The golf club told Gavin they have had to close the course as they have had more rain in the past two days than they usually get in the entire month of January.

Luke saw a physio today about his painful dislocated shoulder and he was told he has to wear a sling and cannot exercise or use his shoulder for 16 weeks! He is very unhappy about that as he is very sporty and goes to gym every day, plus he is going skiing again in about 2 months time.

I have camera club tonight, while I am looking forward to going I do hate going out on a dark winter's night. Tonight is a print competition, I don't expect to do well as not doing any dedicated photography trips last year I am short of competition worthy images. Next week I have 2 days in the Norfolk Broads with Justin Minns so I am hoping conditions are perfect for some excellent photos!
