Weir

We had planned to have a walk around the village today with our friend from Canada, possibly also taking down the club Christmas tree in church. However, overnight there had been a hard frost and the roads were lethal.

After a bit of a thaw, we thought we'd go up to the castle cafe for a coffee and cake. When we got up there the gate and door were shut. They obviously weren't expecting anyone today!

We made our way home via a side path past this cascade from the weir. Many years ago I used to come up here and take photos but part of the grounds are now leased with the castle and I don't think we should be here. At the village end of the path there was a No Entry sign. Oops!

In the evening our friend treated us to a meal at the village pug, The Boot & Shoe. We've had a lovely couple of days.
