White stuff

There was a full covering of snow when we were going to bed with snow still falling fast and I was doing a little video of it from our landing window when I was intrigued to see someone out with a dog (it was 2am).
I was surprised to see so much snow this morning - I took the photo as I was coming downstairs around 8am or just after. We don't get a lot of it  here in St Helens, NW England and I can't remember how long it is since we had this much.
I have stayed put today - playing in the snow is not the best activity at 74 - although I would have loved to go out in it if I wasn't concerned about falling with the risk of fracturing a hip or a femur.
We rarely have the heating on in a morning as we are usually busy and not feeling the cold till at least mid afternoon but today we put it on mid-morning and it's still on, mid-afternoon. It may go off for a bit around teatime but otherwise it will be on till around 11:30pm.
