The Pensioner

Begone

Goodbye Christmas decorations. The house is suddenly bare. And in need of a wipe over. That can wait.
What’s uplifting in the news? Much still about the guy who drove his car into a crowd in New Orleans killing 15. A self-radicalised angry man, it appears. Meanwhile Elon Musk seems to have lost his marbles altogether and now spends his days calling for the overthrow of our own dear government. Calling for the King to do the business. Perhaps he’s been watching Wolf Hall. Why he doesn’t seem so interested in other countries is maybe because he only speaka da eenglish.
Anyway, I’ve been very worried by my good old ex-colleague PA. He was hauled into the RIE on Dec 29th; seriously unwell (again) but not out of touch as we’d been bantering away. On Tuesday he was moved to the ITU and Thursday at 5pm I texted “any goals the day?” (vernacular), which he read. And then at 21:50pm his phone went off and has stayed off. Come Saturday I tried to find out if anyone had news or had contact details for his wife, Gwen. I eventually managed to get in touch with her and heard all the details. The upshot is the poor chap is sedated and on a ventilator. Fingers crossed.
