All Part of the Grift
I was sitting in a public park, just up from the Katoomba Cascades. A tourist bus was parked nearby. The passengers duly alighted from the vehicle and began to stretch their legs. The driver nonchalantly strolled toward the group and casually beckoned for them to join her near to a particular picnic table. With well practised expertise she cast a handful of seed into the air and another upon the table.
On cue, as if carefully rehearsed, sulphur crested cockatoos arrived from nearly every direction. They landed on the table, upon tourist's heads, shoulders and outstretched arms. I swear that the birds were grinning from ear to ear with the prospect of mischief while the tourists themselves were overcome with delight.
I further declare that this particular fellow figuratively winked at me as if to say, "Goodaye mate. Good roll up of punters this morning. Whatdoyareckon?" Involuntarily I checked for my wallet.
