On Blencathra
A light dusting of snow on the tops called us up the hills, so we headed for Blencathra. Icy and slippery in places - we took the easy(?) route up from Scales. The extra shows the view from the summit of Blencathra, the main shot is on the way to Bannerdale Crags of a little frozen tarn, with the Skiddaw range in the background. We did add Bannerdale Crags onto the walk, which ended up as a 10-miler.
Sad that part way round the walk the air ambulance flew in and landed just at the bottom of Sharp Edge, they were there a good 2 - 2 1/2 hours before they took off again. Nasty conditions with the ice and high winds - wouldn't want to have tried sharp edge today, shame someone did! UPDATE: Sadly a man died having fallen 229ft off Sharp Edge.
Sore knees now!
