New Year's Day Walk to Swanston
It was raining heavily when we awoke. No walk after breakfast, so a wee bit of relaxation. During the morning the rain became whiter, but too wet to lie. After coffee, the precipitation was very wintry, but it took a few attempts before the white stuff won over, and the small rivers running down the road became mere trickles of water. About 45 minutes later, io head out to the park. Extra shows the tail end of the heavy snow shower. Snow stops falling on my walk, but as everything is sodden, there is quite a bit of melt.
After lunch, the traditional New Year's Day walk. we decided to head up to Swanston. The snow hasn't completely melted. As we head up hill, the pavements were coated with solid slush. Getting up to Swanston, there is still quite a covering of snow. There are quite families who have come up here for sledging, and a few tourists visiting the Highland Cows. Not many views today. The main blip, taken on the return leg, is different from the normal Sunday blip, but still shows Caerketton Craigs and the T-Wood. As we walk home, we can feel the dropping, but the wet snow hasn't yet frozen. Nice to get home and a warming cup of coffee. What a difference no clouds makes. Even though it is 10 past 4, it is still quite light.
