End of Yuletide

Time to take down the decorations, and use up the leftovers.

Well, the tree was the first thing, that and turn off all the Xmas lights.  The fairy has been protected properly, on her own, in her box, so hopefully she won’t get injured this year.  All packed away now in the ‘tree box’ waiting to go in the loft, but after I get the outside lights in.  With the weather forecasts this may not be for a few days yet, I like to bring them in dry.

And of course the excess food has to be used up – my excuse for ‘bubble and squeak’ at any time.

A good shop at Tesco today.  I explored their ‘Free from’ section and found all the flour and other bits we needed for the ‘gluten free’ sausage rolls and bread etc.  All, that is, other than the ‘Just Roll’ gluten free puff pastry of which they had sold out, but we do now have the ingredients for Mrs W to make her own (notice I did NOT say ‘we’ here!).  No other store in town has anything like the range of everything on offer.  I have just turned out our first ‘gluten free’ loaf – the jury is out . . .

The ‘Round the world time zones new year’s party’ finished at eleven o’clock this morning, a full 24 hours run.  David, who hosted it, lasted the full stretch, I was there for the start and finish and many times in between.  I think London topped the world firework displays this year, including Sidney (which was big).
