Houton is Deserted

Happy New Year to you all.  Thanks so much to every single one of you for the well-intended, but misguided, encouragement/stars/hearts throughout 2024.   Snow showers, zero degrees C, north wind.   The pier on the right is for the  Flotta Lass which transports workers across to the oil terminal.  The left pier is the berth of the MV Hoy Head which takes folk over to Lyness or Flotta.  Both timetables allow for a shipboard romance.  Desmond has radioed in to say he is spending the first day of the year at Carluke Station (Platform 3a).  Blanche is now cleaner in the New Byth Town Hall.  I just spotted Bernard entering the bathroom with a ham sandwich, claiming he is going to have a mustard bath.  Scullion, cackling maniacally, mounted his bicycle with a tin of mustard powder.  Lulu MacDuff is still engaged; Archie simply refuses to do the honourable thing.  I notice in St Lucia it is Peter Wyngarde Day.  And, just for completists, Christopher Biggins still has the freedom of Ascension Island.
