I'm not sad to wave farewell to 2024, though to be fair, it's only the second half of the year that has proven to be a challenge.  The new year begins here.......bring it on!

I heard late last night (early this morning) that there had been an incident that had resulted in the serious injury to two police officers.  I didn't find out until mid afternoon today that that incident was here in Nelson, was a deliberate and aggressive act of violence using a vehicle as a weapon and that act resulted in the death of one of our few women officers who has been a long-serving and extremely well-respected member of the Nelson community.  I'm shocked, angered and saddened that such a needless act of violence has robbed our community of a wonderful, gentle woman who had dedicated her life to helping others.  My heart goes out to her family - there could be no worse start to a year  :'(
