New Years Eve

This perfect weather has lasted all week but I believe it will change on the 2nd when more snow is expected - not a bad thing as they need more snow on the ski slopes. Today was again blue cloudless skies and sunshine.

Gavin and Luke went skiing early this morning. My old wrist injury (that occurred in October from golf) really hurt when I went skiing the other day, when using the poles, so I have been hesitant to ski again as I am trying to get it better before returning to golf in the new year. I fear I may need some physio as it has been weeks now and it has not improved.

After breakfast I went for a long walk with Xena. The problem with a morning walk is that the village is still mainly in shadow so it was very cold and eventually I turned back as I got too cold. I went to Room Cafe for a delicious cappuccino and in the mornings the cafe is bathed in sunlight so it was wonderful sitting there in the sunshine feeling warm again. Then I walked back up the hill to the apartment, its good exercise.

While Luke and Gavin were skiing, Luke slipped on an icy patch and popped his shoulder out - he knew how to pop it back in again (it’s an old rugby injury) but he said he nearly fainted with pain when he did so. Yet they carried on skiing - both Gavin and Luke have a high tolerance for pain!

Adam and Anna went cross country skiing today which they enjoyed. When Gavin got back just after lunch we went for another walk with Xena, as now it was lovely and sunny, and she loves playing in the snow. Her little wound in her leg is finally starting to heal and close up.

Tonight is Silvester, (what the Germans and the German part of Switzerland call New Year) and we are going to a favourite restaurant for dinner. We went last year and it was great, and as we know the owners it feels quite familiar and homely there. Other friends of ours will also be there which will be lovely.

I always take family photos on New Years Eve, its become a bit of a tradition to do this every year so tonight I kept up that tradition. I could not find a decent space to take photos of all of us as a group so we ended up standing on the stairs! Extra of Xena leaping for snowballs.
