Edinburgh Castle

Today was unexpectedly bright and mild, although the wind has strengthened and become quite blustery at times. After changing the bedding, I decided to go for a walk in the park, which was quite peaceful.

Following the morning coffee break, my daughter arrived with her family. They were a bit late as my grandson had a couple of nightmares during the night and slept in a bit. Fortunately, Santa had left presents under the tree for both grandchildren, which not only broke the ice but also cheered them up considerably.

After lunch, we all headed up the Braid Hills for a walk. My grandson was thrilled to be walking up what he perceived as a mountain, given the impressive views, including a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle. However, it was extremely windy, and my grandson experienced a very strong gust of wind that nearly knocked him off his feet. We then made our way towards the garden centre. At Meadowhead, my granddaughter was delighted by the horses, while my grandson preferred the Highland cows grazing in front of the impressive Mortonhall House. After a long walk for little legs, we headed to the café in the garden centre for coffee, apple juice for the children, and cake. Afterwards, we visited the singing reindeer before taking the bus back home.
