Most common in Greece
... or at the least here on Crete; that is to have an Iconostasis in your yard or near the entrance of the family's appartment building; dedicated to a Saint from the Greek Orthodox religion. This one is dedicated to Saint Eirini (Irene )... it's in Sweetheart's direct neighbourhood.
In general Greeks are most religious and you can tell, from the many you see making three times a cross with their hands over their heart, when they walk in the streets and come across a church, or such an iconostasis, or see a priest walk by, or a thought comes into their minds and they make such a cross... always three times, quickly usually. Also when they travel, by bus, by car, on a motor; it's the old and young who do this and of both sexes. Almost all Greeks do, also when in traffic on a motor f.i. ~ However I have not ever seen Sweetheart doing this too.
Thank you all for your reactions upon the yester blip of the Levka Ori, covered in a thin layer of snow... I'd expected that to be more thick!
In the extra 2 pix made at dusk ~ wishing you all a happy last day of 2024! Goodness that year went by fast! The news was often sad and most worrying; I wish 2025 will bring the news of Peace from all battlefields!
