As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning
“Fear no more the heat o’ the sun,
Nor the furious winter’s rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.”
William Shakespeare : Cymbeline
Off to darkest Herefordshire for a quick visit for another catch-up with E. Her renovation work to the cider barn is starting to make progress and I was keen to get some intermediate photos, before the roof is stripped. I visited back in July to get some ‘before’ shots of the barn and its’ Heath Robinson motorbike driven cider mill. Limited daylight hours today so after a catch-up over coffee I headed off to grab my photos before heading back about two hours later for a more leisurely late lunch – indoors today, not like our alfresco meal in July! We were joined by J who has been doing some exploration of his own in the local area with his new ground investigation kit, he’s found some interesting features buried about a metre or so deep; the surrounding area is rich in Roman and Iron-Age artefacts so it could be worth exploring further – or it could be old buried farming artefacts so don’t hold your breath.
