Coping With Extremes

Early afternoon on the warmest day in quite a while, with temps nearing 50°F. Warm enough for ice to begin to melt along the shore, creating pools of open water and exposing the rocks.

I played around with a new lens (Xmas present), a compact ultra wide 8mm. I wanted one for travel mainly, but you've got to get used to new equipment.

It's so small and light compared to the zoom version, I can use it hand held easily (in good light obviously). To use it effectively, you have to get close to foreground objects and cope with the extreme distortion.
