2024 Wednesday — Synopsis
Late this morning we enjoyed a second round of Christmas dinner, yes leftovers, before daughter Deidre and her double yellow blue front Amazon parrot “Doodle” made their departure for SoCal.
Then we had a quiet afternoon and a date for dinner at 4:00 p.m. at the famous Inn in San Luis Obispo. So at 3:45 as we exited the 101 Freeway on the offramp near the Inn, I realized that we would not be dining alone for Christmas dinner. There wasn't one empty space in the parking lot. Thankfully people were exiting, so we got to park.
We had a very enjoyable dining experience in the "Copper Cafe." Our server "Forest" introduced himself; gave us two different menus, and told us we could order from either. I haven't been hungry in weeks (seems like all we've done is eat). I wanted a lite meal not a holiday piled-high feast. So Mr. Fun & I both ordered hot sandwiches from the regular menu and we ate for less than the price of one of the “Holiday Favorite Meals” (and I brought home half of my meal). Our server looked like he was running a marathon, but if we asked for anything (and we did several times) he stopped what he was doing to graciously take care of us.
Our dining experience was enjoyable and we certainly were not dining alone; the restaurant was full. Our table, though, was in a little space of its own and we weren't rubbing elbows with anyone else. After a wonderful dining experience we exited the restaurant into the dark night. I took photos all the way home.
This has been a very pleasant Christmas season. As Christ followers our holiday includes the factual historical account of a babe born in a barn, of wise men following a star, of our God who became a Savior . . . these facts impact our forever. Mr. Fun & I are so thankful that a man named Tim, Pastor Tim Coop, told us 50 years ago about the Christmas baby who is the Christ. Knowing Jesus has made all the difference in our lives. Do you know Jesus Christ? Don’t enter eternity without Him. Hell will be filled with people who Jesus loved because Jesus respects the choice that people make to live life without Him.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
