Highs and lows
AR started her day with pancakes and her own special combo topping of Nutella, bananas, blueberries and ‘whippity cream’. Mt then took her, Mx and Higgs out for a couple of hours of play in the park and some football and a walk up the Royal Mile whilst I bought some new ingredients, made soups, tidied up, changed my bed and did some ironing and H worked on her assignment.
They had bits and pieces for lunch then had some screen time before Mx went to bed (and slept very soundly for a couple of hours) and AR came with me to collect wristbands and torches for tonight’s torchlight procession…my favourite bit of the Hogmanay celebrations. It was pretty windy as we queued up across the Meadows, but bright, and lots of people were there talking excitedly about the evening’s events.
Home and prepared supper of the soups and cheeses, some salad and a fruit platter ready for when A&N and his parents came over. We ate and chatted about the pets and what we’ve all been doing these last few days, then got wrapped up to head out to the procession. When we arrived it had been cancelled …..only about 20 minutes earlier. Drat! Not 100% sure why, as it was gusty but not a howling gale, and I’d have thought it’s gone ahead before in worse weather. Must have been a tough call and I’m sure they’d have been criticised either way.
Home and played a couple of games then said goodbye to the Greenlaw gang and Mt&H put the kids to bed then settled down to watch an episode of Black Doves.
Scary news later…T’s chest infection has worsened and he’d called 111 for advice who have sent an ambulance out to him….his fever has got worse and he’s being sick a lot…..just waiting to hear what’s happening so I doubt I’ll get to sleep until I know what the Drs say. Calls backwards and forwards to A for her advice, for now I can only wait and see,
