Trip
Everyone slept well last night, no dramas thank goodness given I was on duty!
I made pancakes for breakfast, then took Higgs out to the garden for a little while. AR had a shower and hair wash, insisting she could manage herself but then rather sheepishly emerging to say there was a bit of water on the floor……after mopping up half a bucketfull I then took her back in to rinse her hair!
Found Mx fast asleep on the sofa, using Higgs as a pillow. Poor lad, he seems brighter but then crashes out a bit, such a quiet patient! I was worried he wouldn’t be up to a trip to Glasgow but he just asked that we take the car down to the station so I did that, and we caught an earlier train than I’d thought. AR listened to some music on her headphones and Mx borrowed my phone to do Duolingo all the way…mainly music but also maths.
We had their chosen lunches…a subway sandwich for AR and McDonalds for Mx, then they both had a chocolate milkshake which they took to the theatre. We were early…I thought it started at 2pm not 2.30! That gave us time to buy a programme and read all about the story and the costumes and dancers, so that was useful.
Nutcracker was gorgeous and amazingly Mx sat transfixed through it all. When I congratulated him at the end he said, ‘What for?’… I explained that I thought he’d been really good and attentive through the show and he replied, ‘That’s just normal, it’s not an achievement’!
Back on the train again…AR reading her book and Mx doing more Duolingo, then we hopped in the car to come home. Mt&H were back and told us all about their couple of days away….they'd clearly had lots of fun and relaxation and were very pleased to have had the break.
We had another leftovers supper, with homemade pizzas for the kids, then watched the Big Fat Quiz of the Year that I’d recorded last night and chatted about the plans for the next few days before an early night.
