Hunting at Ganavan

The wonderful weather continues - not! Daughter One came over from Mull this morning en route for further destinations tomorrow and we drove down to Ganavan, Oban's beach, to take our part in the BSBI (Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland) New Year Plant Hunt. Individuals or groups choose a location which they can investigate on foot, recording all native plants which are seen in flower, with a time limit of three hours.

It was rather wet and windy, but we set off up the cycle track behind the beach, taking good care to read the warning signs - my Blip today! We passed through a variety of habitats - open meadow, woodland, moorland etc - but found only five examples, all rather borderline I have to say! Oh well - it got us out of the house.

We stayed indoors for the rest of the day, playing a game of 'Wingspan'!

Quote of the Day: 'May your life be like a wildflower, growing freely in the beauty and joy of each day.' – Native American Proverb.
