Looking good
Last evening, out of the blue, I received a message from a garage asking me to move the Volvo before Monday, as the municipality was conducting an inspection. It was nearly the end of the workday, and then the weekend. I have to say, it really stressed me out.
Today, after dropping G at Festival City to meet up with the children she tutors online and lunch I ventured out to tackle the problem. G kindly came with me. The first stop was at a garage that specialises in restoring old cars. They do it as a project - an enthusiast picks/purchases a vehicle from them and then with their help, brings it back to life. Their owner had expressed an interest in the Volvo when I met him in 2021, but business was so bad at the time, due to COVID, there was no way he could contemplate taking on a "new" car.
The owner wasn't there so we left a message with his manager. We then drove to where the Volvo is, thankfully, in the same part of town. I have to say my heart sank when I first saw it. The outside looked bad. The inside didn't look that great but I am assured that the engine is fine and it can be driven. Amazing.
So, it's been inside a garage for the last few years, slowly getting repaired. It was put outside a few weeks ago. The garage is being renovated, hence the inspection. I asked for a couple of weeks to sort things out as there was hardly any time to organise where to move it. A good clean on the outside and inside could prevent the Municipality from insisting it is towed away. It's been good to meet the people who have helped look after the Volvo. Hoping for the best over the next few days/weeks.
And in the evening after dinner, I finally got to watch The Muppet's Christmas Carol. :)))
