All Spruced Up!

Going back a few pictures to the giant Sitka felled at Whinlatter, here is its topmost Top! It just fitted floor to ceiling and is well leashed to the curtain rail. It's cones have opened up and I've found some lights and dangly things so this is it for 2024. However, although it is drinking water by the jugful it is already shedding its lacerating needles - often agonisingly, into my slippers. There's a reason why Sitka offcuts are not the go-to tree at Christmas.
I'm spending this evening through to the 27th with one of my sisters. We've decided to go to the Church Community lunch on Christmas Day and be social instead of spending all day cooking and then eating.
Later, we went to traditional Christmas Eve Mass led by Father Tom. It was packed out so there was plenty of opportunity to warble the harmony and the descant to the carols. Very satisfactory.
Inspired to carol further we had tea and whipped out again for 'Carols around the Tree'. on the main street. But there was no band and no happy throng and in fact, when we checked times, no advertisment. So, either we missed it on a previous week or it didn't happen. What a Swizz!
Consoled by a glass of mulled wine.
