Carlisle castle
In 1122 Henry 1 of England ordered a stone castle to be built in the centre of Carlisle near Hadrian's Wall.
We went into Tullie House, which is just opposite the castle, to see the Sheila Fell exhibition. Her expressionist landscapes show her native Cumberland really well. The exhibition is on for a couple of months...well worth seeing if you are in the area.
